I started writing in English as a mechanism to improve my language skills. Soon this mechanism turned into a hobby and then something happened that I never imagined was possible. I got a chance to be a published translator.
Over the course of the past two years, I have translated two children’s short story books from English to Marathi, my native tongue. Both books were published by Tulika Publications, India.

A Home Of Our Own By Disha Mahajan
My first book ‘A Home Of Our Own/Aapley Swatahchey Ghar’ is a story of a group of street kids trying to build a house in a playful manner.

Lila’s Loose Tooth by Disha Mahajan
The second book ‘Lila’s Loose Tooth/Lilacha Dugdugnaara Daath’ is a story of a little girl Leela and her struggle with her loose tooth.
Translating these books gave me an opportunity to reflect on my bi-lingual skills, improved my translation skills and made me realize that often the seemingly easiest jobs are the most difficult ones.
